The Impacted SERIES
The Impacted is a dark young to new adult book series about teenagers with superpowers!
Buy it here! Long ago there was a virus. It was extreme. The doctors did everything they could to cure it. They were successful. But the people who were cured changed. Many of them developed abilities but with some side effects. Some of the people with abilities now go crazy and only mindlessly destroy completely and utterly braindead. The disease only affected "volo" which is slang for people with powers, between the ages of 3-17 marking the generation with the disease and cure to be known as "The Impacted". Our story starts off in Georgia around early 2007. Two teams have sprung out of the chaos that these "Corrupted" volo who go mad- cause. Team Rotiesta who mercy kill them and Team Xoa who hand them in and capture them- for the government. Each book flip flops views between members and perspective characters from team Xoa, and Team Rotiesta. Book 1 follows Ivy Pots, a suicidal self harmer, who tries to join Xoa only to follow Roeista through to the end. Book 2 follow Damsel Savage a young girl with an {ed} who is helplessly loyal to Xoa with a codependent relationship on it's leader Blain Sherwood to a fault. Book 3 is all about Otis Lexington and his ties behind the scenes that back up with Roeista despite being unknowable to everyone involved and so on and so forth like a pattern with each juvenile and team. This book series might be about teenagers, and young adults however it is definitely marked 16+ and does contain very triggering theming and topics! Scroll down to the bottom of the page for trigger warnings per books! These books are what I like to call a "skins situation" they will really help the young people who struggle like the kids do who happen to read them, however every other book comes with an opener for triggers for a reason. I originally didn't even intend for young adults to read about this series for that reason! But it is relatable and I will never rip this series out of a teenagers hands. For as much as it's for adults, it is also for them. No matter how dark it is. This series is about being marginalized. It's about fighting oppression. It's about being different when the world hates you. It is escapism but it's more than that. It might be a super hero story, but it also has representation beyond the allegory for a reason. The allegory is what is supposed to speak to you, and the rest comes after that. The characters in these books might not always be good people or do the right things. (Looking at you William) but they are complex people that you can relate to and at the end of the day if you think you can handle it the Impacted is for you! It is explicitly on Amazon.
